The temple Tofuku-ji is the main temple of the Rinzai sect Tofukuji school. Built as a family temple for a court advisor. Construction of 7 buildings was completed in 1255. The Zen-style structures including the oldest Main Gate from that era. The bridge Tsutenkyo gives an excellent view of autumn leaves. It is one of the five great temples of Kyoto. The garden of the Hojo (abbots hall) was reconstructed in 1939. |
